Electrolux E10 Error Code — Water Inlet Fault

Seeing E10 on your Electrolux washing machine? The E10 error code means the machine is not getting enough water — or no water at all — within the expected fill time. The wash cycle will not start or will stop early because the machine cannot fill the drum. Here is what to check and when you need a technician.

What the Electrolux E10 Error Code Means

The E10 code is triggered when the washing machine’s control board detects that water has not reached the required fill level within a set time period — usually around 10 minutes. The machine will stop the cycle and display E10. On some Electrolux models, you may also see E11 (water not filling during wash) or E12 (water not filling during rinse), which are related codes with the same underlying causes.

Quick Checks You Can Do Yourself

Check the Tap Is Turned On

It sounds obvious, but this is the most common cause. The cold water tap behind or beside the washing machine may have been bumped closed, turned off during maintenance, or not fully reopened after a plumber visited. Check that the tap is fully open. On dual-valve machines that use both hot and cold, check both taps.

Check for a Kinked or Blocked Inlet Hose

Pull the machine out far enough to see the hoses at the back. Check that the inlet hose (the one running from the tap to the machine) is not kinked, pinched, or crushed against the wall. Even a partial kink can restrict water flow enough to trigger E10.

Check the Inlet Hose Filter

At the point where the inlet hose connects to the back of the machine, there is usually a small mesh filter (or filter screen) inside the hose fitting. Over time, this filter can clog with sediment, rust, or debris from the water supply — particularly in older houses or areas with hard water. Turn off the tap, unscrew the hose from the machine, and check the filter. Clean it under running water or pick out debris with tweezers. Refit and test.

Check Your Water Pressure

If other taps in the house are running slowly, you may have a general water pressure issue rather than a washing machine fault. Low water pressure — from council works, a faulty pressure reducing valve, or a leak elsewhere in your plumbing — can prevent the machine from filling in time. If pressure is low across the house, contact a plumber.

Try a Power Reset

Turn the washing machine off at the wall, wait 60 seconds, and turn it back on. Start a new cycle. If the E10 was caused by a temporary sensor glitch, the reset may clear it.

Common Causes That Need a Technician

Faulty Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled valve inside the machine that opens to let water in when the cycle starts. If the valve has failed — mechanically stuck closed, or the solenoid coil has burned out — no water enters the drum. A technician can test the valve electrically and mechanically and replace it.

Faulty Pressure Switch or Pressure Hose

The pressure switch tells the machine how much water is in the drum. If the switch is faulty or the small rubber hose connecting it to the drum is cracked, blocked, or disconnected, the machine may think the drum is full when it is empty — or may not register incoming water at all. This requires diagnosis by a technician.

Wiring Fault

Loose or corroded wiring connections between the inlet valve, pressure switch, and control board can interrupt signals and cause the E10 code. A technician can trace and repair wiring faults.

Control Board Fault

If all the above components test fine, the main control board may not be sending the signal to open the inlet valve. This is uncommon but does happen, especially after power surges.

E10 on Electrolux Dishwashers

The E10 code can also appear on some Electrolux dishwashers, where it has the same meaning — the machine is not filling with water. The same checks apply: verify the tap is on, check the inlet hose for kinks, clean the filter screen, and check water pressure. If those do not resolve it, the inlet valve or pressure switch likely needs attention from a technician.
