Safe checks before booking
These are observations you can make without opening panels or moving a built-in dishwasher. Follow the instructions for your exact model; do not keep restarting an appliance that leaks, smells hot or trips a safety switch.
1. Check the Door Latch
Check whether crockery or a rack blocks the door and whether it closes normally. Do not force the latch. Miele lists an improperly closed door as one possible reason a dishwasher will not start; your model may show a different message or indicator.
2. Check Child Lock Is Deactivated
Look for a lock symbol or a delayed-start setting on the display. Use your model manual to cancel it; button sequences differ between models. Record any error code rather than repeatedly trying combinations.
3. Verify Power Supply
If the plug and wall switch are safely accessible and dry, check that the appliance is switched on. Do not touch a wet outlet, damaged plug or exposed wiring. If a safety switch keeps tripping or the electrical supply is uncertain, stop using the appliance and contact a licensed electrician. Appliance repair is separate from fixed electrical work.
