Miele F50 Error Code — Drive Motor Fault

A Miele front-loading washing machine showing F50 will not run, and often stops with the load still wet inside. Book online at /book/ or call (07) 3062 2377.

What F50 means on a Miele washing machine

F50 is a drive motor fault. The machine cannot get the response it expects from the motor or from the electronics driving it, so it stops rather than continuing the cycle.

What we find on Brisbane Miele F50 jobs

Across the 27 Miele F50 jobs our technicians attended in Brisbane in the 12 months to September 2026, the motor is named on 19 job records and the control board on 15 — the two appear together often, because the motor and its control electronics are tested as a pair before either is replaced.

What you can safely check first

  • Open the door and remove the washing. If the door will not release, do not force it — leave it for the technician.
  • Turn the machine off at the wall for a few minutes, then try a short cycle. Note whether F50 returns straight away or part-way through.
  • Check the drum turns freely by hand with the machine switched off. Resistance or grinding is worth mentioning when you book.
  • Do not remove the back panel. The motor and its electronics carry stored charge and are not a home repair.

What the repair involves

A technician runs diagnostics, then tests the motor and the driving electronics before quoting. Because the two are so often recorded together, testing both is what stops the wrong part being fitted.

Pricing

Our callout fee is $219, which includes the first 30 minutes of on-site labour and a full diagnosis. Parts are quoted separately before further work. Seniors, pensioners and students receive a $20 discount. Return visits are $29 plus parts and labour. All prices are estimates only.

If your machine is still inside the manufacturer’s warranty period, contact Miele Australia first to confirm how your repair should be handled.

Frequently asked questions

Is an F50 repair worth doing?

Usually, on a Miele. These machines are built for long service lives and a motor or board repair is generally worthwhile — but the technician will give you the parts cost before any work goes ahead, so the decision stays yours.

Can I get my washing out?

Most of the time the door releases once the machine has been off for a few minutes. If it does not, leave it — forcing a locked door on a front loader causes more damage than it solves.
