Common Fridge Problems We Fix Every Week
Fridge Not Cooling but Freezer Works Fine
Your fridge section is warm but the freezer is solid. Usually it’s a stuck or broken damper valve (that baffle that directs cold air), a failed evaporator fan motor, or a blocked air vent. Samsung, LG, Hisense, and Westinghouse models see this often. Our vans carry damper assemblies and fan motors — usually sorted same day.
Ice Maker Stopped Working
Your fridge was making ice and now it’s not. Either the water filter is clogged, the water line froze up, or the water inlet valve failed. Common in Samsung, LG, and Fisher & Paykel. We carry water inlet valves and filter cartridges, so most of these come right on the day.
Water Leaking Inside or Under the Fridge
You’ve spotted pooling water inside the fridge compartment or a puddle on the floor underneath. Most often it’s a blocked defrost drain tube — the small pipe that’s supposed to take meltwater away. Could also be a torn door seal or a failed drain pump. Fisher & Paykel, Samsung, and LG units suffer this regularly. We carry drain tube kits and door gaskets.
Fridge Making Loud Grinding or Buzzing Noises
Your fridge sounds like something’s about to break. Could be a dirty condenser coil (happens in every brand), a faulty condenser fan motor struggling to push air, or an evaporator fan on its way out. We carry replacement fan motors for all of these and can usually get it done in one visit.
Excessive Frost or Ice Buildup
Your freezer compartment is frosted over or ice is caking up. Usually it’s a worn door gasket letting warm air in from outside, a failed defrost heater, or a defrost timer stuck. Samsung (especially with Energy Saver turned on), Fisher & Paykel, LG, and Liebherr are prone to this. Our vans have door gaskets, defrost heaters, and timers on board.
