Common Fisher & Paykel Problems We Fix Every Week
Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive Motor Controller Failure
The machine stops mid-cycle or won’t start at all. The Smart Drive top loader has an electronic motor controller that’s gone. WA and MW series Smart Drives are common. The controller loses power, won’t command the motor, or the hall sensors are reading fault. We replace the motor controller, reprogram if needed, and test all cycles.
F&P DishDrawer Not Draining — Error Code F2
Water pools in the DishDrawer. Error code F2 shows on the display. The unique DishDrawer design means it drains differently to standard dishwashers — the drain pump is either blocked or the float switch is stuck. We access the pump from underneath, clear blockages, test the float mechanism, and replace the pump if it’s dead.
Fisher & Paykel Washer Suspension Rod Failure
The machine shakes violently during spin. Loud metallic rattling. The suspension rods (Fisher & Paykel uses four) are snapping or stretching, causing the tub to drop and hit the casing. You need to replace all four rods at once — replacing one leaves you with uneven tension. We pull the tub, replace all four, rebalance, and test.
F&P ActiveSmart Fridge Not Cooling
The fridge section is warm. The freezer might be icy or warm. The electronic control board isn’t signalling the compressor properly, the damper motor is stuck (it controls airflow between fridge and freezer), or the fan motor has seized. E and RF series ActiveSmart models are common. We test the damper, clean condenser coils, and replace the control board if needed.
Fisher & Paykel Dryer Not Heating
Clothes are damp. The drum turns but there’s no heat. The heating element has burnt out, the thermal fuse is blown, or lint has blocked the internal ducting. DE series dryers. We replace the element and fuse together, clear the lint path, test temperature rise, and confirm proper airflow.
Fisher & Paykel Washer Lid Switch or Door Lock Failure
Top loaders won’t start because the lid switch is faulty. Front loaders won’t lock or won’t open because the door lock solenoid has failed. The lid switch is a cheap part but essential — without it, the safety interlock won’t close the circuit. We replace the switch or solenoid, test the interlock, and confirm the cycle starts.
