Miele Dishwasher F14 Error Code — Heater Pressure Switch Fault Repair in Brisbane

Miele dishwasher showing F14? Here’s what’s happening.

Your Miele dishwasher has stopped mid-cycle and the display is showing F14. According to the Miele standardised fault list and the G 4205/G 5xxx series technical information manual, F14 is a water intake fault related to the heater pressure switch — the machine has not detected sufficient water circulation pressure during the heating phase of the wash cycle.

When F14 triggers, the programme is interrupted and the drain pump is activated. The dishwasher will not continue until the underlying issue is resolved.

Important: Error codes can vary between Miele dishwasher models and generations. The F14 definition above applies to the G 4000, G 5000, G 6000 and G 7000 series dishwashers. On some older or newer models, F14 may present differently. Always cross-check with your model’s user manual if available.

What does F14 mean on a Miele dishwasher?

The F14 code indicates that the heater pressure switch (component B1/13) is not being activated during the wash cycle. This pressure switch monitors water circulation through the heating tunnel. Under normal operation, the circulation pump forces water through the intake tunnel and past the heating element. The resulting pressure activates the heater pressure switch, which in turn allows the heater relay to energise and begin heating the water.

If the heater pressure switch does not activate within the expected timeframe, the control board registers F14. This means one of two things:

  • There is not enough water in the machine to generate adequate circulation pressure
  • There is a problem with the circulation path that is preventing water from reaching the pressure switch

F14 is distinct from F12 and F13 (which relate to water intake at the start and end of a programme step respectively). F14 specifically occurs during the heating phase, when the circulation pump should be driving water through the system.

Common causes of a Miele F14 error

  • Insufficient water supply — A partially closed tap, kinked inlet hose, or low household water pressure (below 30 kPa / 0.3 bar) can prevent the machine from filling adequately.
  • Clogged water inlet filter — The mesh filter in the inlet valve or at the hose connection can become blocked with sediment, reducing water flow into the machine.
  • Blocked circulation pump — Food debris, broken glass, labels from jars, or other foreign objects can obstruct the circulation pump impeller, reducing water pressure through the heating tunnel.
  • Heater pressure switch fault — The pressure switch itself may be defective or its sensing port blocked by debris, preventing it from detecting adequate pressure.
  • Blocked filters or spray arms — Heavily soiled filters or blocked spray arm nozzles can restrict water flow enough to reduce circulation pressure below the trigger threshold.
  • Excessive detergent or foam — Over-dosing detergent can create foam that reduces effective water pressure in the circulation system.

Things you can check yourself

  1. Check the water supply tap. Make sure the tap supplying the dishwasher is fully open. Turn it off and back on again to confirm flow.
  2. Inspect the inlet hose. Check for kinks, tight bends, or crushing — particularly if the machine has been recently moved or installed. Straighten any restrictions.
  3. Clean the inlet filter. Turn off the water supply, disconnect the inlet hose from the tap end, and check the mesh filter for sediment or debris. Rinse it clean under running water.
  4. Clean the dishwasher filters. Remove the bottom rack, take out the cylindrical mesh filter and the flat filter beneath it. Rinse both thoroughly under running water. Blocked filters can restrict circulation.
  5. Check the spray arms. Remove each spray arm and rinse under the tap. Check that the spray holes are clear and not blocked with food debris or scale buildup.
  6. Reset and test. Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on and run a short programme. If F14 returns, the issue is likely internal.

When to call a technician

If F14 persists after checking the water supply and cleaning the filters, the fault is likely caused by:

  • Defective heater pressure switch — needs testing and replacement
  • Blocked or faulty circulation pump — foreign objects in the impeller or a worn pump motor
  • Faulty inlet valve — not opening fully, restricting water intake
  • Blocked heating tunnel — debris or scale buildup in the water path between the pump and heater
  • Control board fault — incorrect interpretation of the pressure switch signal

A qualified Miele technician can diagnose which component is at fault using the machine’s diagnostic mode. Our technicians carry a range of commonly used parts on every van, so many repairs can be completed in a single visit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between F12, F13 and F14 on a Miele dishwasher?

All three are water intake faults, but they occur at different points in the cycle. F12 occurs at the start of a programme step when the machine fails to fill. F13 occurs at the end of a step when the target water level has not been reached. F14 occurs during the heating phase when the heater pressure switch does not detect adequate water circulation pressure. F14 specifically points to a circulation or pressure issue rather than a simple fill problem.

Can low water pressure cause a Miele F14 error?

Yes. If your household water pressure is below 30 kPa (0.3 bar), the dishwasher may not fill adequately, leading to insufficient circulation pressure during the heating phase. If you suspect low water pressure, check other taps in your home. If pressure is generally low, contact your water provider or a plumber.

Is the Miele F14 error covered under warranty?

If your Miele dishwasher is within the manufacturer warranty period, the repair may be covered. As authorised Miele warranty agents, we can process warranty claims directly — we just need a copy of your purchase invoice. Call us on (07) 3062 2377 to arrange a warranty assessment.

What does it cost to fix a Miele F14 error?

Our callout is $219 including the first 30 minutes and a complete diagnostic. Parts costs vary depending on whether the issue is the pressure switch, circulation pump, or inlet valve. We provide a fixed price quote before proceeding with any work.

Do you repair Miele dishwashers on the Gold Coast?

We cover the Northern Gold Coast — Coomera, Helensvale, Hope Island, Pimpama, Ormeau and Nerang. We do not currently service the southern Gold Coast.
