Common LG Problems We Fix Every Week
LG Fridge Linear Compressor Failure
You hear clicking and knocking from the back of the fridge. Then it stops cooling. LG’s linear compressor (a known issue) fails — the stator/rotor assembly wears, friction increases, and the compressor seizes. GF, GS, and GB series are most common. This was serious enough that LG ran a class action settlement in the US over it. We replace the compressor and run a full cooling cycle to confirm temperature pull-down.
LG Washer Direct Drive Motor Failure
The machine won’t start or stops mid-cycle. The display shows error code LE or LE1. The direct drive motor (the heart of LG washers) has a stator or rotor assembly failure, or the hall sensor is dead. WD and WT series hit this after 5–8 years. We replace the motor assembly, reprogram the control board if needed, and test all cycle types.
LG Dishwasher Not Draining — Error Code OE
Water sits at the bottom. You see OE error. The drain pump is either blocked (bones, caps, shards) or the pump motor has failed. The check valve might be stuck. XD series models are common. We clear the blockage, test pump amperage, and replace the motor if it’s dead.
LG Dryer Not Heating — Flow Sense Warning
Clothes are damp. The display might show a “Flow Sense” or duct blockage warning. The heating element has burnt out, the flow sensor duct is clogged with lint, or the thermistor is faulty. TD and DV series dryers are prone to this. We replace the heating element, clear the lint path, and test temperature rise.
LG Fridge Ice Buildup Behind Panel — Defrost System Failure
You see ice caked behind the back panel. The defrost heater isn’t working, or the defrost sensor (bimetal) has failed. Drain tube might be frozen. GF-series French doors suffer this. We test the defrost heater coil resistance, replace the bimetal if needed, clear the drain tube, and confirm the defrost cycle runs.
LG Washer Won’t Drain — Error Code OE
Water pools at the bottom. The display shows OE (Overfill or Error). The drain pump filter is clogged (coins, lint, bobby pins are common), the drain pump motor has failed, or the check valve is stuck. This happens across all LG front loaders. We remove the pump, clean the filter, test the motor coil, and replace parts as needed.
