Fridge Not Cooling but Motor Running
The most common call we get. The fridge hums away but the temperature inside is climbing. Food is going warm and you can tell something’s wrong.
Likely causes: Failed thermostat not calling for cooling, blocked or iced-up evaporator coil (behind the back panel inside the fridge), faulty evaporator fan motor not circulating cold air, or low refrigerant from a slow leak. On inverter models, a failed inverter board can cause the compressor to run at the wrong speed.

Likely causes: Blocked defrost drain (the small drain hole at the back of the fridge cavity gets clogged with ice, food particles, or mould), cracked or overflowing defrost drain pan underneath the fridge, failed water inlet valve (on fridges with water dispensers or ice makers), or a damaged door seal allowing humid air in and creating excessive condensation.
Brands commonly affected: Samsung and LG fridges are particularly prone to defrost drain blockages. Westinghouse and Kelvinator models with rear-mounted drain pans are common leak sources.

Freezer Working but Fridge Section Warm

Likely causes: Failed evaporator fan motor (the fan that pushes cold air from the freezer into the fridge section), blocked air vent damper between freezer and fridge, iced-up evaporator coil (defrost system failure — the freezer generates cold but it can’t circulate), or a faulty damper control motor.
Brands commonly affected: This is extremely common in Samsung and LG frost-free models. Westinghouse and Electrolux models with rear-mounted evaporator fans are also frequent offenders.
